Name Lucas Paz
Home El Cerrito, CA
Occupation Hydrologist, LFR Inc.
Experience Lucas originally began bike racing sporadically on a dirty mountain bike in the 1990s. In 1999, while attending graduate school at UC Berkeley, Lucas joined up with Cal Cycling and had his first taste of road racing. The initial experience with collegiate road racing teamwork was rewarding and became addictive. Soon thereafter, he joined the UCB Men’s A squad, enjoyed several trips to the podium and helped the team get to Nationals. Continued with USCF road racing in 2002 with the Berkeley based Three Bears Racing Team (3BRT) and more recently with East Bay Velo Club (EBVC). In 2002 he upgraded to Cat. 3 and a year later after numerous top ten placings he upgraded to Cat. 2. One of his most memorable wins was outsprinting a 100 man Cat. 3 field at the 2003 Snelling Road Race. Over the last two years Lucas has been enjoying racing with Masters 35+ 1/2/3 and occasionally jumps into a Pro 1/2 race.
